AutoducksVIN Decoder

Privacy

Autoducks LLC runs this site. We do not have user accounts. The only cookie we set counts how many photo reads you have used (a number and a signature, nothing else).

Photos

If you use the photo reader, your photo is sent to an image-reading model run by Cloudflare, our hosting provider, to read the characters. We do not store the photo, and we show you what was read so you can check it before anything is decoded.

Fonts

Page fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google to fetch them. No VIN or other details you enter are sent.

Advertising

When this site shows ads, they are served by Google. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Ads never receive the VINs you enter.

VINs you enter

To decode a VIN we send it to NHTSA's public decoder and recall service. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) keeps a copy of NHTSA's answer for up to 30 days so repeat lookups are fast; that copy is keyed by the VIN and holds only NHTSA's vehicle data. We do not record VINs in our logs or analytics, and the VIN is not placed in page addresses, so it is not passed to other sites.

Analytics

We count page visits with privacy-preserving analytics that do not use cookies or identify you.

Links to other sites

Links to vehicle-history companies do not include your VIN. Those companies have their own privacy policies.
